The goal of our efforts in school is L E A R N I N G. Grades are only an indicator of how much learning has occurred.You focus on learning and let the grades take care of themselves.
How your grades will be calculated?
Daily Average
Your daily average is the average of the all quizzes and homework grades.
Major Grades
Major grades include tests, and notebook checks.
Semester Exam
Each semester have one final exam.Exams will be given during scheduled exam times.
Averages
The daily average is 1/3 of your 9-week average. Major grades make up 2/3 of that average. After two 9-weeks averages have been calculated, another average is calculated to include the semester exam. Semester exam is 20% of this average.Each 9-weeks grades is 40%.

Classroom Procedures

1/Classroom Arrival.Take your seat ,take out your materials, and be prepared for the class.If you are tardy to class,quietly enter the class, hand me the tardy slip, and then do the normal classroom arrival procedures.

2/Classroom dismissal procedures:When the bell rings at the end of class,don't just pack up and leave.Please do not pack up until I tell you, and then wait for me to dismiss the class.

3/If you disturb the classwork or you do not the assignment, you will be sent to the office, and you will be absent for this class.After 6 absences in one semester, I will call your parents to warm them of the possibility that credit will not be given for the course.After 8 absences, the headmaster or the principal will schedule a conference with your parents.After 10 absences, credit may be withheld.

Classroom Rules and Consequences

1/ Be on time.Class starts with the bell rings.3 tardiness =1 absence.If you are tardy to class, you must get a tardy slip at the office.Quietly enter in the classroom,give me the slip, and then do the normal classroom arrival procedures.

2/Be prepared.Bring your covered textbook,notebook and pen or pencil to class every day.You cannot complete assignments if you do not have your supplies and you will be send to the office and get one absence.

3/Dress properly.Follow the uniform dress code.Consequences start with warnings, proceed to detention, and eventually conduct checks.

4/Do all assignments.If you miss a day of class, you will need to check the homework assignment section so that work can be turned in the next day. You will be required to make up the test up to 3 day after the date that you return.Quizzes will be not made up.You simply will be given a "no grade", provided you to bring an excuse.

5/Electronic devices are not allowed at anytime.

6/Be respectful.Everyone is expected to be respectful of other students in this classroom as well as the teacher.

7/Follow all instructions given in the handbook or in class.

8/Cheating on any assignment will not be tolerated.You will receive no warnings.On the first offense, the consequences are:a zero on the assignment,a zero for the daily grades, a conduct check, and an office referral.

9/Food, drink, and gum are not permitted during the class.

WELCOME TO SPANISH CLASS!

Learning Spanish is not easy, but is very important for the future of our children. We will be beginning with the basics in each class. I want to ensure students have a firm foundation in Spanish phonology, syntax, and basic grammar. Then we will slowly build on what they have learned and will continue to gain communicated skills based on context. The first period will use the textbook Bienvenidos. The second period will use the textbook Buen viaje, the fifth period will use Buen viaje. The sixth period will use Accion and the seventh period will use Como te va.

The most important part of learning some language is the skills of speaking. Because of that we will do as much speaking and listening during class time. Therefore, in order to complement the in class activities, students will have a great deal of homework assignment to reinforce the new material. We will have a short quiz once every week. The test is every Friday and covers the week’s material and some review of past lesson. Language learning is cumulative and students cannot forget previous material. We have the final exam at the end of each semester.

ATTENDANCE

Please review the school’s policies regarding excused, unexcused absences and tardiness. Students should be seated and ready for the day’s class when the tardy bell rings for all other classes. Being punctual helps students learn the importance of self responsibly.
When the student is absent should bring a written excuse from parent when he or she returns to school.

CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR AND DISCIPLINE

Students and parents will receive a handbook that outlines the school’s policies regarding behavior and discipline. We will establish procedures for every activity in the class. I will expect a positive learning climate in our classroom. The rules are simple to follow:

1. Always be prepared and ready to learn.
2. Do what is expecting of you.
3. Do not disturbing the classroom activities and learning of the others.

LEARNING SPANISH IS NOT EASY AND IT REQUIRES THE ATTENTION, PARTICIPATION, AND COOPERATION OF ALL INVOLVED.
